"Is there any chance that Karkat might recognize John as Heir? I mean, he's kind of got a Clark Kent/Superman thing going on where he seems like he's not hiding all that much. If he doesn't, then has Karkat given any thought to who Heir might be? Or considered John at all?"

There’s not a big chance of Karkat recognizing John as Heir. The mask and goggles provide quite a bit of covering, and even if they didn’t, this universe adheres to/follows comic book logic in a large number of cases. “Clark Kent” is a perfect disguise level that nobody would see through. Personally, I think Heir’s disguise level is more “Bruce Wayne” because he does lower his voice, wears a mask that covers a good half of his face, and has goggles and a hood that do a decent job obscuring the top half.

And yep! Karkat thinks about Heir’s identity in the same kind of way that some people try to picture who they’re going to marry. He doesn’t have a reason to suspect John as being Heir, and why would he be? Because John is attractive and buff? So are a good number of athletes attending their school.

"I was listening to Disney music earlier, and "Zero to Hero" popped up. All I could think of the entire time was Karkat dress up as Meg and John as Heir being an uber-manly Hercules and flexing for Karkat. Karkat attempts(and fails horribly) to not swoon."

This ask, oh my gosh, I’m grinning so much. But seriously, totally awesome crossover images in my head. I may or may not have always thought “I Won’t Say (I’m in Love)” was a perfect Karkat song.

I asked Sgt how he wanted to respond to this one and he just said however I wanted, but to be sure and include “FUCKING PERFECT” in it.

I’d say that he has the ability to do this, but say that he wouldn’t because of the risk involved with causing permanent harm. It has also occurred to him to maybe try creating a bubble around people’s heads and sucking the oxygen out, though he doesn’t want to try because, again, the danger. There’s a scene in World War Z where one of the protagonists describes the effect of an explosion that does something similar, but ends up sucking the lungs out of the zombie’s chest. If John did such a thing by accident, he’d be scarred for life.

If by jacket you mean you don’t have a Batman hoodie, that’s totally fine! In the story, Karkat wore a Batman thing the first time he was seen but has worn different clothes throughout (like his black turtleneck + Rorschach hoodie combo from chapter 3 or his monochromatic look from chapter 5).

Karkat might like heroes and comic, but that doesn’t mean his wardrobe consists of only hero related things! Go for coverage, baggy items, and muted colours. Think grey, black, and duller items.

If you do want to go with something hero related there are a lot of other options open other than the Dark Knight: Punisher, Deadpool, Daredevil, Wolverine, Constintine, Rorschach, Iron Man, and any other total badass you can think of. Even members of The Ancestors if you want to design your own shirt.

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that cosplaying our Karkat is pretty easy to cosplay because it’s a basic Karkat cosplay + glasses + baggy pants + layers forever.

"Two questions: 1) Have you heard of the novel "Hero" by Perry Moore? Elements of this story initially reminded me of the novel. However, I think now that this fan fiction has different themes than the novel since human views on sexuality have evolved partially in response to troll views on sexuality. 2) Did you consciously make the decision refer to John both as "John" and as "the hero" in the story narrative? Referring to John as "the hero" gives the story narrative an interesting flavor."
